Who I Help

My practice is designed around people living and working in and around Angel and Ealing who want safe, hands-on support for pain, stiffness, and performance. Common reasons people book include:

  • Neck pain and tension
  • Back pain (upper, mid, or lower)
  • Joint pain (shoulder, hip, knee, ankle, wrist, etc.)
  • Arthritic and rheumatic pain management
  • Postural problems related to desk work or lifestyle
  • Sports injuries and recovery (from training niggles to return-to-play plans)
  • Muscle spasms and persistent tightness
  • Neurological presentations that are suitable for manual therapy as part of broader care
  • Headaches that may be related to the neck and jaw
  • TMJ (jaw) dysfunction and related muscle tension

I take a person-centred, evidence-informed approach to care. We’ll discuss what’s driving your symptoms and agree a plan that fits your goals—whether that’s lifting without pain, sitting comfortably through the workday, or getting back to running, yoga, or strength training.

What to Expect at Your First Osteopathy Appointment

From the moment you step into the clinic, my aim is to make the experience calm, professional, and collaborative.

  1. Conversation and case history – We’ll talk through your symptoms, how they started, your day-to-day activities, and any relevant medical history. This helps me form a safe, tailored plan.
  2. Movement and clinical assessment – I’ll guide you through gentle movements and specific tests to understand what’s contributing to your discomfort.
  3. Treatment – Depending on the assessment and your preference, treatment may include soft tissue techniques, gentle joint mobilisation, muscle energy techniques, and advice on self-care. Everything is explained and consented to first.
  4. Plan and next steps – You’ll leave with a clear idea of what we’ll focus on, how many sessions might be helpful, and practical strategies to support your progress between visits.

Please wear or bring comfortable clothing you can move in. If you prefer to remain more covered, we can accommodate that and still examine and treat effectively.

How Osteopathy Supports Pain Management and Movement

Osteopathy is a hands-on approach that focuses on the body’s structure and function—how your joints, muscles, and nervous system work together. Many people seek osteopathy for relief from pain, to improve movement, and to feel more confident returning to the activities they love. In practice, that looks like:

  • Reducing muscle tension with targeted soft tissue techniques
  • Improving joint mobility through gentle mobilisation
  • Calming sensitive tissues and the nervous system with pacing and graded exposure
  • Better posture and movement habits supported by simple exercises
  • Education to help you understand what’s going on and why symptoms can improve

I combine hands-on therapy with pragmatic advice and movement strategies. We’ll prioritise what matters most to you and adjust the plan as your symptoms change.

Sports Massage: Recovery, Performance, and Everyday Relief

Whether you’re training regularly or simply feeling the effects of a busy week, sports massage can help ease accumulated tension and support recovery. Typical benefits include:

  • Relief from tight, overworked muscles—particularly common in the neck, shoulders, calves, and hips
  • Improved circulation and tissue recovery after intense sessions
  • Better range of motion to help you move more freely
  • A dedicated hour of guided downtime that can help reduce stress-related muscle tension

In Angel, you can book a dedicated 60-minute sports massage for £80, or we can combine massage techniques within an osteopathy session when appropriate.

A Person-Centred Approach

I’m a clinic tutor at the UCO School of Osteopathy and bring that same mentoring mindset to patient care. My earlier career as a holiday rep and flight attendant sparked a deep interest in health and well-being. That led me to sports massage and then to a five-year training at UCO (formerly the British School of Osteopathy). I value empathy, clarity, and collaboration—because the best results happen when you feel heard and involved in your care.

Common Questions

Will you be open on Bank Holiday Monday?

No—JJB Osteopath (Angel) is closed on Monday, 25th August for the Bank Holiday. I’m back on Monday, 1st September with evening appointments from 5:00pm–8:00pm. Booking is open online.

Do I need a referral?

No referral is needed. You can book directly online or by phone.

Is osteopathy safe?

Osteopathy is regulated in the UK, and I tailor all care to your needs and medical history. If something isn’t appropriate, we won’t do it. If I think you need further medical assessment, I’ll let you know and help signpost next steps.

How many sessions will I need?

That depends on your goals, how long you’ve had symptoms, and what we find in the assessment. Many people feel benefit within a few sessions. We’ll review progress regularly and only recommend what’s necessary.

What should I wear?

Clothes you can move comfortably in, such as sportswear. If we need to see or feel a specific area (like your lower back or shoulder), we’ll discuss the options and work with your comfort and consent.

If You’re Waiting for an Appointment: Simple Tips

While you’re waiting to come in, these gentle, general strategies can help many people feel a bit more comfortable:

  • Keep moving within comfort – Little and often tends to beat long periods of sitting or complete rest.
  • Switch positions – Alternate sitting, standing, and short walks if your day is desk-heavy.
  • Warmth can help – A warm shower or heat pack may ease muscle tension.
  • Light mobility work – Slow, easy range-of-motion movements for the stiff area are often soothing.
  • Sleep support – A pillow that keeps your neck in a neutral position can reduce morning stiffness.

If your symptoms are severe, worsening, or include red flag signs such as unexplained weight loss, fever, significant trauma, changes in bladder/bowel control, or progressive weakness, please seek appropriate medical advice promptly.

Why People Choose an Osteopath in Angel

My Monday evening appointments are designed for exactly that: timely, focused care that works around your schedule.

What Makes Treatment with Me Different
